Description of The Last Journey
This painting was one of three 100 by 100cm (40 by 40 inches) I have been working on since coming back from a break in Cornwall. I found myself painting the sea of course and then three graduated landscapes. This was the middle painting. I found at one point that the skyline was almost as high as the one next to it so worked at bringing it down. I was left with a ghost of purple in the background that became mountains and then played with the red and found a car on the right handsome appearing. This was the day after the Queens Funeral. So the painting found itself its purpose of commemorating an amazing woman. Whatever we feel about royalty Elizabeth R was one of a kind and steadfast in her devotion to our country. RIP and glad this painting found its way into the world.
